Discount on insurance contributions

As from 1 February 2023, the employer may claim a 5% discount per calendar month on insurance contributions for employees who meet one of the following specific characteristics​:

• They are at least 55 years of age;
• They take care of a child under the age of 10 of which they are parents or substitute parents;
• They take care of a close person under the age of 10;
• They are full-time students at a secondary school or a university;
• They started retraining as job seekers within 12 months prior to the calendar month for which the discount on insurance contributions is claimed;
• They have a disability;
• They are under 21 years of age – the part-time requirement does not apply here.

The entitlement to a discount on insurance contributions is otherwise conditional on the employee working part-time. The scope of the reduced working time thus has to be between 8 and 30 hours per week. If an employee works for several different employers, the discount can be claimed by the employer who has applied for it first. Only one employer may claim a discount on insurance contributions for the same employee.
