Travel and meal allowances in 2025

Decree of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs No. 475/2024 Coll. concerning the rates to calculate employees’ entitlements to travel allowances and the amount of meal allowances has changed with the arrival of the New Year. All employees who travel as part of their work should be alert. In this article, we will take a closer look at the individual changes.
Meal allowances in the Czech Republic
Several factors affect the amount of meal allowances. Primarily, the amount of the meal allowance for each day is based on the number of hours spent on a business trip. In addition, the amount of the reimbursement is also influenced by whether you work in the private or public sector. These facts are summarised in the following chart:
Duration of the business trip | Private sector (minimum amount): | Public sector: |
5 to 12 hours | CZK 148 | CZK 148 to 177 |
12 to 18 hours | CZK 225 | CZK 225 to 271 |
More than 18 hours | CZK 353 | CZK 353 to 422 |
Compensation for the use of road motor vehicles and average fuel price
Along with the meal allowance, the rates of basic compensation for the use of road motor vehicles and the average price of fuel were also updated in the Decree. The rate of basic compensation for 1 km of travel increased to CZK 5.80 for passenger road motor vehicles and CZK 1.60 for single-track vehicles and three-wheelers. In contrast, average fuel prices have decreased compared to 2024 and their specific values are:
CZK 35.80 per litre of gasoline 95
CZK 40.50 per litre of gasoline 98
CZK 34.70 per litre of diesel fuel
CZK 7.70 per kWh of electricity for electric vehicles
These facts only apply to the use of a private vehicle.
